Success Stories

"I used The Middle School Student's Guide to Ruling the World! in a course to help get some of my students back on the learning track. They enjoyed taking the quizzes to learn more about themselves as students. It was exciting to see their eyes light up as they completed the fun activities!"  Laura F., Teacher, MN
"Using this with my smart, but scattered grandson. The assessment is fabulous. I gave it to the child and his parents. Food foe a powerful conversation that helped them set realistic expectations. It additionally got the child’s attention as to the problem. The content is clear, concise and helped focus goal setting, monitoring and expectations concretely." -- BJK
"These books are awesome and address a problem facing so many students from special education to high achievers, low income to high income. Poor organizational skills are not just a problem for the poor or learning disabled. This is just a great resource that addresses multiple learners in simple, continual lessons.Great job!"  -  Ann A.,  Teacher, MA
This book is all that it was advertised to be and more, according to my wife, and she uses it in her Middle School Special Education classes with success.   M. Miner, TN
"I wanted to let you know how well-received your materials and lesson plans were at our school this past year. We offered an elective course for fifth through eighth grade students which was well attended. Teachers, students and parents were so pleased with the content and the success of the enrolled students, we are now integrating it as a required course for all the incoming 6th graders!" --
Beth N. Teacher, FL
"My son was hesitant to read The Middle School Student's Guide to Ruling the World! He felt he was too cool for a book on succeeding in school. But, after taking the Truth or Dare Quiz, he realized that he could learn some things from this book! Now, his binder is organized, he's taking notes in class and he is more engaged in the classroom.  His teachers appreciate his focused attitude. I appreciate him finally taking responsibility for his school success!" -- Lori H., Parent, Utah
"The suggestions about how to organize the class binder were extremely helpful to my son. Now he feels very confident about keeping track of his important papers, handouts and homework." -- G. VanBeveren, Parent,  NJ
"I am so glad that a friend recommended your book to me. We are both mothers of 7th graders. Your book helped both my son and me so much to get prepared for middle school. The book is actually fun reading. My son feels so confident with his binder well-organized. We posted the "Mental Checklist" on the bathroom mirror. We cleaned up his workspace. The book helps me to help him succeed! Now I understand how middle school works, and what is expected in the classroom. I am grateful you took the effort to create this guide for us!" -- Terry R., Parent, WA
"What a kid-friendly organizational book! My 13 year old read it cover-to-cover and so did I. It was full of practical tips and motivational suggestions that really work. Plus, its approach takes away the stigma that disorganized people are stupid or lazy, and instead shows that disorganized people simply need to learn some helpful skills. Highly recommended!"  L. Diggins, Mom, MA
"I introduced your book to the student body on the very first day of school and then to the parents. They were overjoyed that there was such a book. Your book is a gem and is currently being taught by several folks in my school. Its graphics and humor add a smile to the reader's face as he/she seeks assistance in developing good vs. nasty study habits! Well done!"  --  Dr. Robert G., Teacher, MA

Great help for my 11 year old.

We have talked about several of the issues in this book, and it is definitely helping. Would recommend this book.

Start off a step ahead

My 12 year old son loved this tongue in cheek look at problems with disorganization and how to correct some habits before 7th grade. He was the child described in the book with the school planner that had one or two things written in it and papers falling out of his backpack! He has taken ownership of creating binders that work for him based on the author suggestions. He has created his workspace, made use of many of the websites the author directed him to and feels like he has a basis for organizing his time and work this year. This was just what we needed to get Mom off his back and for him to claim the responsibility.

A must read for EVERY Middle School student!

I recommend this book for every middle school student. My 7th grader read it and learned how to organize and manage his heavy work load at school.

I bought this for my 13 year old. Its a great book with tons of useful helps. I would recommend going through it with your kids however. Teaching organization skills is a hands--on thing.

Good book. Only problem is getting my middle school

Good book. Only problem is getting my middle school child to read it. It would probably have been better to give this to my son before he got into middle school when he was a bit more nervous about starting middle school.

Five Stars

Fun, informative book.

Excellent

I wish I had found this book earlier. My daughter struggles with organization and her grades suffered because of it. I bought this because it looked like a fun way for her to learn without being too preachy and more importantly she is able to follow along with the podcast. So far she likes listening and following along with the classroom antics and trying to figure out which student portrays her. I'm going to work with her this summer. I'll write a follow after school begins and she can put what she learns into practice.
