Exciting news! Tween Publishing’s Student Organizational Skills (“SOS”) program is on audio podcast! Students can log on, and in 10 fun lessons from The Middle School Student’s Guide to Ruling the World! learn good basic work habits, time management, and organizational skills for success in middle school and beyond.

What’s the SOS Podcast Program all about?

The SOS Podcast Program provides the independent learner — at home or at school — with an opportunity to learn good basic work habits, time management, and organizational skills. In ten lessons that interact with The Middle School Student’s Guide to Ruling the World! students are entertained and educated as they follow along with the chronically disorganized kids of U.B. Smart Middle School, learning essential skills for success in middle school and beyond. The podcasts are also a great way to supplement or flip instruction.

How does my student access the SOS Podcasts?

The SOS Podcast program is available at www.middleschoolguide.com from any school or home computer. We suggest placing a link on your school or class webpage for ease of access. Podcasts are also available on iTunes: podcasts/education/k12/The Middle School Student’s Guide to Ruling the World! (Click on the icon and the 10 podcasts appear in the menu.)

How many lessons are in the podcast program?

There are 10 audio lessons. Each is about 25-30 minutes.

What does the podcast program cost?

Nothing! Access to the podcast program is included with purchase of The Middle School Student’s Guide to Ruling the World! ($11.95)

Do I need any special equipment or program to listen to the podcast?

Yes. Lessons are downloadable from www.middleschoolguide.com or iTunes to your student’s IPOD or MP3. As long as the student has The Middle School Student’s Guide to Ruling the World! and a way to listen, lessons can be completed anywhere, anytime!

My son likes to use his IPOD. Can the lessons be downloaded to his IPOD or MP3 Player?

Should teachers use the Instructor’s Guide and workbooks, or the podcast program to teach this course?

With the Instructor’s Guide and student workbooks (The Middle School Student’s Guide to Ruling the World!), teachers have everything they need to provide an excellent learning experience for students. The podcasts are a great way to supplement or flip instruction.

Does the SOS Podcast Program cover the same work habits, time management and organizational skills and strategies that are covered in the Instructor’s Guide?

The podcast program contains 10 lessons, whereas the Instructor’s Guide has 16 lesson plans, and additional practice activities.

I love SOS! How can my school include the audio podcasts in its organizational skills program?

READ—> LISTEN—> TEACH—> PRACTICE! Students complete the assigned reading in The Middle School Student’s Guide to Ruling the World!, then listen to the companion podcast lesson at home, in the classroom, or tech lab while following along in workbook.
